Invest in Bold Scholarship, Bring African Perspectives to Life
The Department of African Cultural Studies (ACS) at UW–Madison has long been a vibrant leader in the exploration of African languages, literature, art, film, and culture — shaping thoughtful, globally engaged critical thinkers. In honor of Professor Emeritus Aliko Songolo and his many years of dedicated teaching and service to the department, ACS established an annual summer research award. This award fuels transformative student research that strengthens recipients’ connection to the depth and diversity of African cultural expression while equipping them to make meaningful contributions in their fields.
During Day of the Badger, every gift to the Aliko Songolo Student Research Award Fund goes directly to our students, carrying forward Professor Songolo’s inspiring legacy and investing in the talents of our students as they pursue bold scholarship and real-world impact.
Your support makes a meaningful difference in providing enriching opportunities for our students, ensuring that African perspectives continue to inspire and transform the world.
