Communication Arts

Students in the Department of Communication Arts investigate the production and consumption of communication in all its forms. Our mission is to train communication scholars and practitioners who make a positive difference in the world. We accomplish this not just through our undergraduate and graduate degree programs but also through two certificates: digital studies and digital cinema production.

How Your Gifts Make an Impact

Your gift will help support tomorrow’s brightest media professionals and communication researchers as they learn to use the powerful communication platforms all around us. Our current funding priorities include:

  • investing in the development of new courses, internships, and off-campus programs to ensure our students’ career readiness
  • creating new awards and scholarships to increase access to the world-class education and mentorship we provide
  • developing new outreach programs and research projects to grow our community and increase our impact beyond campus
  • expanding the department’s research capacity to supercharge our recent successes in securing top external grants

Why We Need Your Support

By supporting these and other initiatives, you can play a direct role in realizing our vision of changing the world through more effective communication.

You can learn more about our goals to expand and improve the communication education we provide to students in our 2025–29 Strategic Plan.

Gifts will be contributed to the Communication Arts Annual Fund – 132245038 at the University of Wisconsin Foundation.
