The Information Technology Academy (ITA) is a precollege program at UW–Madison that empowers high school students who are first-generation and/or low-income through technology exploration, leadership development, and college preparation. Through year-round programming, summer camps, and academic coursework, ITA provides students with:
- Meaningful college exposure and experiences
- Hands-on exploration of technology and tech careers
- Academic and social-emotional skill development
- A supportive, community-centered learning environment
Your impact
Gifts to ITA directly support:
- Hands-on learning materials and technology tools
- Transportation to academic and enrichment activities
- Career exploration and college readiness experiences
Every contribution — large or small — helps students build skills, confidence, and a sense of belonging in technology and higher education.
“I am forever grateful for the opportunities, community, and guidance the UW–Madison Information Technology Academy gave me and countless other scholars. ITA not only taught me technology and study skills but gave me the preparation I needed to be successful in higher education.
– Natalia del Rio, ITA Class of 2018, first-year student at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health
Through my junior year internship and leadership classes, I was able to grow professionally and begin developing a resume that allowed me to work toward my goal of attending university. The ITA instructors, mentors, and staff created a supportive, welcoming, and uplifting community that truly became my second family.”
