Journalism and Mass Communication Challenge

Challenge
Met

Thanks to a generous group of emeritus Board of Visitors members, led by Ben Deutsch (BA’85) and Scott Farrell (BA’78), when the Journalism and Mass Communication Annual Fund receives 120 gifts during Day of the Badger, we will unlock an additional $10,000 for SJMC students.

This challenge has ended.

As one of the earliest communication programs in the country, the School of Journalism and Mass Communication (SJMC) prepares students not only for the jobs of today but also for the ever-changing media landscapes of tomorrow. From the heart of a world-class university, we create critical thinkers, problem solvers, researchers and innovators.

How Your Gifts Make an Impact

Contributions to the SJMC during Day of the Badger support the Journalism and Mass Communication Annual Fund. Gifts to this fund will have an immediate impact on a diverse array of student and faculty initiatives across the school, by:

  • providing financial support to deserving, passionate students, including our James L. Baughman Senior Achievement Awards.
  • updating learning spaces and technology to encourage greater faculty-student collaboration.
  • supporting real-world projects, professional development and networking opportunities that best prepare students to hit the ground running upon graduation.
  • engaging in inclusive initiatives to make the SJMC a place where all students feel they belong.

Why We Need Your Support

The School of Journalism and Mass Communication needs your support to ensure that our students have educational opportunities that create unparalleled professionals in strategic communication, journalism and research.

Gifts will be contributed to the Journalism and Mass Communication Annual Fund – 132513530 at the University of Wisconsin Foundation.
