The UW–Madison Department of Physics is nationally and internationally renowned for its interlinked research, teaching, and outreach. We pride ourselves on having one of the most engaged departments in the country in terms of physics outreach. Since 1984, we have welcomed more than 300,000 visitors to one of the more than 360 presentations of our annual outreach show, The Wonders of Physics, and its Traveling Show counterpart. We are also proudly home to the oldest continuously operating interactive science museum in the country, the L. R. Ingersoll Wonders of Physics Museum. And our Wonders Outreach Fellows program has trained 47 graduate students in four years to conduct and excel at physics outreach and has served as a model for other departments to create similar programs for their students. These important activities are funded entirely by donations.
Our goal for Day of the Badger is to raise $50,000 to enable funding of dedicated Wonders of Physics personnel for improved outreach to a broader community. Donations up to $50,000 will be matched dollar for dollar thanks to a generous donor! Please help us meet our goal by giving to the Department of Physics — every donation will help support this important program.
