Who We Are: The Department of Statistics at the University of Wisconsin–Madison — a founding department of the School of Computer, Data & Information Sciences — is a hub for pathbreaking education and research in statistics and data science, preparing the next generation of data-driven leaders.

Our Background: Since 1960, the Department of Statistics has been an epicenter for providing statistical solutions to scientific problems at UW–Madison. We have a decades-long history of bringing unique insights to interdisciplinary collaborations in a variety of areas, such as biology, medicine, the physical sciences, business, and engineering.

Our Commitment: We are unyielding in our dedication to deliver top-tier education in statistics and data science for our rapidly growing community of students.

Your Impact: When you contribute to the Department of Statistics, you:

  • Kickstart careers: Your gifts support graduate students as they attend prestigious conferences and connect with leading organizations across a range of industries.
  • Empower student organizations: Gifts allow us to equip our student organizations, like the Statistics Graduate Student Association and the Data Science Club, to host exciting events and build data-centric communities across campus.

Your Investment Drives Possibilities:

  • $75 provides a textbook for a student for a semester.
  • $250 can cover the registration fee for a professional conference.
  • $500 covers travel expenses for a student seminar speaker.
  • $1,500 enables a student to travel and present at a conference.

Seize the Day (of the Badger): Join us in preparing the next generation of data-driven leaders by making your gift today.

Gifts will be contributed to the Department of Statistics Fund – 112801520 at the University of Wisconsin Foundation.
