Why We Need Your Support
We are one of the oldest and most respected departments of gender and women’s studies in the country. Our interdisciplinary curriculum prepares students for continuing graduate and professional education, as well as employment in diverse fields, from marketing to social work. We see the classroom as a potent site for the production of knowledge and insight, where students look beyond their own perspectives to understand the lives of other people. Our students are engaged in classes, research, internships, and other activities that enhance their experience at the UW, but more importantly, that prepare them to excel in their careers when they graduate.

Gender and Women's Studies - How Gifts Make a Difference
Your gifts to the Department of Gender and Women’s Studies (GWS) enable us to offer enrichment experiences for students and support for faculty. This year, our goal is to make unpaid research and internship opportunities more accessible to our students. We are raising funds to provide GWS and LGBTQ+ Studies students with financial support for summer internships. Our students benefit immeasurably from their time learning from and with community organizations, leaders, and mentors, and these vital professional development opportunities are often unpaid. We are committed to making summer work equitable for our students.
What is day of the badger
Day of the Badger is a day — and then some — to celebrate and support UW–Madison. It’s exactly 1848 minutes for all alumni, students, and friends throughout Badger nation to make a far-reaching impact in a short amount of time.
