Why We Need Your Support

The School of Journalism and Mass Communication needs your support to ensure that our students have educational opportunities that create unparalleled professionals in strategic communication, journalism, and research. Your gifts help students financially through scholarships, create professional development and networking opportunities, and support instructors as they develop experiences that best prepare students for ever-changing media landscapes. Your gift will support real-world projects and initiatives that engage our students, such as producing award-winning media content, working with industry leaders on strategic communication campaigns, and engaging in groundbreaking research on how communication can be used to foster healthier societies.

Join the conversation on social media using #dayofthebadger: proudly sport (and snap a photo of) your Badger-red attire, share your favorite UW memories, and celebrate the impact Badgers have on the world.

Journalism & Mass Communication - How Gifts Make a Difference

CHALLENGE GIFT AVAILABLE: Emeritus and current members of the School of Journalism and Mass Communication Board of Visitors invite you to join them in a challenge! Help unlock an additional $12,500 when we reach 117 donors, in recognition of the School’s 117th anniversary this year.

We prepare our students to contribute to society, with more than 95 percent of our graduates employed in their chosen fields. But just as important, we prepare them for civic life, with a well-rounded education that builds critical thinking, curiosity, and creativity. Your gifts help us guide students to become great leaders and teammates, and cultivate people who want to be well-informed, active citizens and agents of change.

What is day of the badger

Day of the Badger is a day — and then some — to celebrate and support UW–Madison. It’s exactly 1848 minutes for all alumni, students, and friends throughout Badger nation to make a far-reaching impact in a short amount of time.
